Biography
Valentina Gómez Sanabria, born 24 years ago in Bogotá and currently residing in Bucaramanga, Santander, completed her studies in Chemical Engineering at the Industrial University of Santander, where she is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Research in Chemical Engineering.
She began her musical studies in August 2009 at the Folkloric School “Dinastía Castellanos”, under the direction of maestro José Segundo Castellanos, and later with maestro Héctor Raúl Ariza Ariza. She is currently continuing a self-taught process with the guidance of renowned national artists such as Yeferson Jerez Gámez, Carlos Vásquez Soto, and Luis Hernano Hernández, among others.

Valentina has been the winner of important competitions such as:
- National Requinto Players Competition, Children’s category, Vélez, Santander (2011 and 2012).
- National Tiple Competition “Pedro Nel Martínez”, Children’s category, Charalá, Santander (November 2013).
- National Andean Music Competition “Cacique Tundama”, Duitama, Boyacá (November 2013).
- Cuyabrito de Oro Award – Instrumental Category and Grand Cuyabrito de Oro Award (October 2014).
- Youth Performer at the 3rd International Festival “The Tiple and the Requinto in Contemporary Key,” Vélez (November 2014).
- Winner, Children’s Instrumental category at the Ocobo de Oro Competition, Ibagué (July 2015).
- Performed as interpreter and image for the new version of the Anthem of Santander.
- Winner of the Cacique Tundama, Youth category, Duitama (October 2016).
- Third place at the Pedro Nel Martínez Competition, Adults category, Charalá, Santander (November 2016).
- Winner of the 26th Colombian Pasillo Festival, Instrumental Soloist category, Aguadas, Caldas (August 2017).
